Intersection of HIPAA and FERPA

New Description: FERPA is the acronym for the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. This act protects the privacy of a student’s educational records. It applies to all educational agencies or institutions that receive funds under any program administered by the Secretary of Education. HIPAA is the acronym for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. This session will provide an overview of HIPAA and FERPA and the interplay between the two.
